Mayumi Uchida Wins First AKB48 Janken Senbatsu Tournament and Centers Single to be Released December, 2010 (Plus Tournament Results)

Rankings of the 16 Senbatsus for the December 8, 2010 single as based on the Janken Senbatsu Tournament held at Budokan, Sept. 21, 2010:

#1 Mayumi Uchida (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted at Budokan August 2009)
#2 Haruka Ishida (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted at Budokan August 2009)
#3 Haruna Kojima (always Senbatsu, original member)
#4 Haruka Nakagawa (second time to be Senbatsu, after being elected for Heavy Rotation, original member of Team B)
#5 Ami Maeda (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted at Budokan August 2009)
#6 Sumire Sato (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted at Budokan August 2009)
#7 Natsuki Sato (second time to be Senbatsu, after Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou, original member of Team K)
#8 Aki Takajo (third time to be Senbatsu, after Ponytail to Shushu and Heavy Rotation, promoted during Team A's 5th stage)
#9 Tomomi Nakatsuka (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted during Team B's 3rd stage for their 4th stage)
#10 Asuka Kuramochi (third time to be Senbatsu after 10nen Zakura and Iiwake Maybe, promoted during Team K's 4th stage)
#11 Kana Kobayashi (third time to be Senbatsu, after Aitakatta and Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou, original member of Team K)
#12 Miku Tanabe (first time to be Senbatsu, original member of Team B)
#13 Tomomi Kasai (always Senbatsu except for Sakura no Shiori and singles before Team K was created, original member of Team K)
#14 Sakiko Matsui (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted at Budokan August 2009)
#15 Atsuko Maeda (always Senbatsu, original member)
#16 Rina Chikano (first time to be Senbatsu, promoted during Team K's 5th stage)

Most of those who got in Senbatsu here are rarely chosen as Senbatsu, and a majority become Senbatsu for the first time in their careers. As a result of this random tournament, only Atsuko Maeda and Haruna Kojima retain their super Senbatsu status, as most of the frequent Senbatsus got eliminated in the tourney. They are also the only two members left to be Senbatsu for every single released since AKB48 started.

Janken Tourney Results (Image created by Stage48's TL of http://nagoya48.blogspot.com, used with permission, click to enlarge):

Mayumi Uchida was a former Kenkyuusei who was promoted at the August 2009 Budokan concert, along with many other Kenkyuuseis, where the Great Budokan Teams Shuffle also occurred. She was promoted to Team K, where she performs the stage unit Gyakuten Oujisama (Come From Behind Prince) with Minami Minegishi and Tomomi Nakatsuka, for their 6th Stage (1st as shuffled Team K). Before she was promoted, she was the main Kenkyuusei who performed the stage unit Zannen Shoujo (Unfortunate Girl) with Mayu Watanabe and Tomomi Nakatsuka for Team B's 4th stage (the 3rd girl in the unit is listed as Kenkyuusei). Well, she wasn't unfortunate to win the 1st AKB48 Janken Senbatsu Tourney, she gets the chance of a lifetime to center an AKB single, and this was certainly a come from behind. Congratulations to Ucchi!
